Psalm 118:19-20 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD:
This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.

A plea and prayer of the psalmist that the temple gate may be open so that he may enter in to be in the house of the LORD. It is called the gates of righteousness because it is a gate by which entering, he finds salvation.

This gate is called the gate of the LORD because all who enter is pronounced righteous. In the sight of God, he is accepted.

This acceptance is through the merits of the LORD, who Himself provided the sacrifice for the sinner by which he can be made right in the sight of God. Amen.
