Isaiah 32:17 Peace, Quietness and Assurance

Isaiah 32:17 (KJV)  And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. 

The work of righteousness, that is, the salvific work of Christ brings peace to the soul. Forgiveness of sins and removal of guilt from the heart and thus peace.

And the effect is the experience a sense of quietness in the heart. There is a calmness of the soul knowing that God is taking charge and He will do it well on our behalf.

And the effect is also of assurance, that the wrath of God has been averted. The believer has an advocate in Christ whereunto he may resort to, to confess his sins and be cleansed from all unrighteousness. And this blessed state continues until the believer sees the Lord face to face, with the blessing multiplied many fold. Amen.
