2 Peter 1:3 Life and Godliness

2 Peter 1:3 (KJV)  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

The Apostle Peter writes to them that have obtained like precious faith through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ whose divine power has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness. Eternal life and life lived in the presence of God, acceptable!

The knowledge of Christ enables the believer to escape the corruption that is in the world through lust – 1 John 2:16 (KJV)  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 

The blessing of our salvation properly worked out through the grace of God is glory and virtue. The putting on of Christ and the putting off of the world, the hope of glorification! Amen.
