2 Corinthians 4:16-18 The Inward Man Is Renewed Day By Day
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (KJV) For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Though the outward man perish yet the inward man is renewed day by day. The inner man, that is, the spiritual man pursues after the imperishahable virtues of God that brings everlasting fruit and reward.
The outward man, this physical man, will ultimately succumb to disease, death and decay. Is there therefore no hope for man?
There is! Through Christ comes the gift of eternal life that triumphs over this temporal, earthly life. The Apostle Paul calls it a light affliction for the believer because he looks beyond this present world to the glorious eternal future of the redeemed.
Therefore, let His people not faint, but nurture the health of the eternal to cherish the eternal and despising the temporal. Amen.
