Philippians 3:12 I Follow After

Philippians 3:12 (KJV)  Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

The word “apprehended” speaks of the heavenly prize, the reward of the Lord Jesus Christ, that the Apostle Paul by the grace of God presses forward.

He has not arrived at the goal nor won the prize. His soul has been saved. He awaits the transformation that will come for his body – Philippians 3:10-11 (KJV)  That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;  11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

Though there were present sufferings, he saw the glorify that will come, and therefore he prayed, “I follow after”, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Amen.
