Psalm 17:8 Keep and Hide Me

Psalm 17:8 (KJV)  Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

The psalmist sought the LORD’s protection, that His watching care may keep him from the attack of the evil one and lead him not into temptation.

He sought to come under the care of the LORD, which he already is. He amplified his need, knowing realistically speaking his vulnerability.

The imagery of the mother bird defending her chicks gives a clear picture of God’s care for His children. Let His people indeed rest in His care. Amen.
