Lord’s Day, Vol. 6 No. 7

Life is in Jesus Christ

 John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

 Jesus Christ is the Source of life. By Him, we have our existence. This is a greatest truth for any man to believe and embrace. Jesus is the Creator of all life.

John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

 He is the Sustainer of all life. The life that Jesus Christ imparts is the light of men. It is a realization that we have when the truth is revealed in our hearts through the wisdom imparted by the Holy Spirit.

When we realize that Jesus Christ is the Giver of life, we receive Him as Lord and Saviour.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

We learn to love Him and be grateful to Him for the life and blessings He imparts to us.

There is a chorus “What a Wonderful Saviour!” that expresses well this blessed relationship:

What a wonderful Saviour

Jesus Christ my Lord

What a wonderful Saviour

From sin He sets me free

I will praise Him forever

Faithful to death I’ll be

What a wonderful Saviour

Jesus is to me.

This is the truly happy life. Do you seek to find happiness for your life? Our every need is taken care of through Jesus Christ. We can call out to the Father in heaven through Jesus Christ for help. This prayer chorus is for your encouragement:

Keep on praying,

The Lord is nigh;

Keep on praying,

He’ll hear your cry;

God has promised and He is true;

Keep on praying,

He’ll answer you.

The greatest blessing in Jesus Christ is that He frees us from the bondage of sin and gives us the power to say “no” to sin.

He gives our hearts joy and peace, freeing us from the guilt of sin. It is a supernatural endowment from God. A blessing that the world at large needs.

John 1:10-11 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

 This was the mission of Jesus Christ, to save perishing souls in bondage to sin.

And for all believers blessed of God in Jesus Christ, we can embrace Jesus’s call to evangelise a dying world. This chorus is a prayer for a tender heart to love the dying souls of men.

Christ Crucified

Give me a heart like Thine,

Help me to love the dying souls of men;

And keep my heart

In closest touch with Thee,

And give me love,

Pure Calvary’s love,

To bring the lost to Thee.

John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

This is the mystery of godliness that God comes in human flesh. Jesus Christ is the Mediator between God and men.

As God, He represented God to reach out to sinful men and as Man, He represented men, providing Himself as the Sacrifice for sins on our behalf.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, was born into the womb of the virgin girl Mary, the seed of a woman (Gen. 3:15), lived a perfect life fulfilling all the laws of God and was the perfect sacrifice for sins on our behalf on the cross. Jesus shed His blood on the cross to wash away our sins.

How can Jesus Christ be received into our hearts?

When we acknowledge that we are sinners and repent of our sins, believing that Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead the third day, we shall be saved.

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

All praise and glory to God. Amen.

Yours lovingly,

Pastor Lek Aik Wee
